Wonderful reproduction of Admiral FitzRoy’s storm glass.
The glass contains a mixture of different liquids, such as, and not only, distilled water, ethanol, potassium nitrate, ammonium chloride and camphor.
A mixture that allowed to predict, through the alteration of the liquid, the time.
With a clear mixture, the forecast was a clear weather;
with cloudy weather cloudy with probability of precipitation;
with dots present in the mixture the weather was expected to be moist and foggy;
with the presence of crystals the forecast was of storms;
with the presence of small crystals, snow was expected;
with the presence of large crystals it was expected cloudy weather in temperate seasons or snow in winter;
with the presence of crystals on the bottom of the container the forecast was of frosts;
with the presence of filaments in the upper part of the container was expected windy weather.
